The Markers we will create: Positive reinforcement direct reward from handler, positive reinforcement indirect reward on handler, positive reinforcement direct reward in environment, postive reinforcement indirect reward in environment, negative punishment marker, positive punishment marker.
Communication Tools we will cover: Using the ecollar as an activator, slip leash, prong collar, flat collar, harnesses, flexi leads, bungee leads, nose halters, and dominant dog collars.
Once we have established markers and proficiency with various communication tools, we will discuss the practical applications of using this ‘language’ to train our dogs.
Koru K9 Balanced Trainer’s Academy
Daily classes run from Tuesday to Saturday during both weeks of the course, with Sunday and Monday off in between. Classes begin every day at 8:30 a.m. Don’t be late! You’re welcome to bring coffee or breakfast with you each morning. We start each day with daily dog husbandry chores. After the animals are taken care of, we sit down for a lecture and review the day’s topics. We take a 15-minute break at 11 a.m. and lunchtime is from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. During lunch, we ask you to please leave the training yard and training room. After lunch, we meet at the training yard for the second half of training, which runs until between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. On the last day of class, we administer a written test after morning husbandry chores. You have one hour to complete the test and must achieve 80% or higher to pass the course. After the written test, we have a verbal and hands-on test to make sure you can properly explain how to introduce training tools and concepts to the clientele.

Behavior Modification Shadow Program
This shadow program is designed for professional dog trainers who are interested in learning more about behavior modification, aggression rehabilitation and applying the NePoPo® Training System to difficult pet dogs. We will focus on building motivators, drives and creating a deeper understanding of animal behavior with dangerous pet dogs. This is the only program available where we will work with novel behavior modification cases throughout a three week board and train and then coach the owners on how to remain successful with their dog. Bring your most challenging client dog(s) for hands on instruction on proper management routines, incompatible behavior training and more. There will be a maximum of 5 spots available for shadowing and an interview process to get in. Professional Dog Trainers ONLY.
Please email heather@thek9advocate.com for an intake form and to set up an interview.
